When you consider how young Chris Daughtry and the guys are, they could definitely make a case for top five artist in the next decade. They are currently ranked as the (#9) artist in Byrdbored history thanks to their above mentioned music stats, but with “Dearly Beloved” they could be putting some pressure on the top five artists in the future.

“Call You Mine” could crack the top five down the road.ĭaughtry doesn’t need a fantastic new album to help their legacy. The album also has some tender moments with “Call You Mine” and “Break Into My Heart” both featuring Daughtry’s ability to sing anything with passion. “Evil” is also one of my favorites and could keep momentum for the album on into 2023. “Asylum” and the title track could potentially both hit (#1) with “Asylum” possibly having as much impact as “The Victim” did in 2021. “Dearly Beloved” might be one of those albums that gets stronger as 2022 moves forward. It is their 35th Gold certified song overall. Although it didn’t set Byrdbored on “fire” it was a solid start for a new album and has been certified Gold. The song actually got some Rock radio play for Daughtry for the first time in a very long time. It definitely returns the guys back to their roots, and I feel it is a great first single for the band. The first song released was “World On Fire” which peaked at (#5) late in 2020. I think it will fall somewhere between “Break The Spell” and “Baptized” and is easily their fourth best album overall. I believe the album at least gets them back to “Break The Spell” level although it may not end up certified Diamond in the end. My disappointment in “Cage To Rattle” is completely flipped with “Dearly Beloved”. To say that it is a return to form for Daughtry would be a major understatement. In my customary long-winded way, I wrote all of that to set up their latest effort, “Dearly Beloved”. They simply were not doing what they do best and received a (1) Byrd Beak rating which might seem harsh, but most definitely reflected my disappointment with the album.
It mostly felt like Chris Daughtry was trying to do his Adele impression.
There were also no “cages being rattled” on the album. A Platinum album for most artists would be great, but not for an artist that set the bar so high from the beginning. However, the band’s fifth album, “Cage To Rattle”, was their first album to not hit the top of Byrdbored and peaked at (#3) spending only (21) weeks in the Byrdy Dozen. Realistically it wasn’t a disappointment to me since no artist can continue to stay as high as Daughtry started. That is probably typical of most artists.ĭaughtry’s fourth album, “Baptized”, is solid but did fall short of the first three albums spending only five weeks at (#1) and only (43) weeks in the Byrdy Dozen to be certified (5x) Platinum.
They set the bar from the very beginning, and it is sometimes hard to live up to an artist’s early work. It is safe to say, my expectations for Daughtry are very high. Daughtry has produced (41) Byrdy Dozen hit songs in roughly fifteen years with (37) of those (41) cracking the top five including (17) (#1) singles. “Break The Spell” spent ten weeks on top and (81) weeks in the Byrdy Dozen to also hit the Diamond mark. The follow-up, “Leave This Town”, has been certified Diamond with seven weeks at (#1) and (117) weeks in the Byrdy Dozen. It spent (27) weeks at (#1) and (113) weeks in the Byrdy Dozen and has been certified (19x) Platinum. All three albums have been certified Diamond with their self-titled debut ranked as the (#4) album in Byrdbored history. They probably had the best trilogy of Rock albums since Def Leppard’s “Pyromania”, “Hysteria” and “Adrenalize” as far as I am concerned.
There aren’t many Rock acts that can rival the first three albums from Daughtry.
